The first Oscar Mayer Wienermobile was built in 1936. This
hot- dog shaped vehicle travels around the United States promoting
one of America’s favorite foods. The Wienermobile has also
traveled in Canada, Japan, Puerto Rico, Spain, Mexico and Germany.
The first Oscar Mayer Wienermobile was 13 feet long. Today's vehicle
has grown to 27 feet and weighs the same amount as one million hot
dogs. Over the years, the Wienermobile has been re-designed; the
current model features a hot dog shaped instrument panel, seating
for six in mustard and ketchup colored seats, and a removable bun
roof. Each Wienermobile cruises an average 500 miles a week. The
Wienermobile has appeared in two movies: “Ladybugs,”
starring Rodney Dangerfield, and “Another You,” starring
Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder. It has also appeared on “The
Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “The Late Show with David
Letterman,” and CNN Headline News. The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile
is a reminder of how much American families love the hot dog. During
the Fourth of July weekend, Americans will enjoy 150 million hot
dogs; between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Americans will eat enough
hot dogs to circle the globe more than 15 times! The Wienermobile
has grown to 27 feet long, and weighs the same amount as one million
hot dogs. See the Wienermobile and pick up your free Oscar Mayer
Wiener Whistle at Kids Expo!
